First Day of Pre-K and Girls' Weekend

Liv is officially a pre-K'er. I can't believe she is so grown up! She headed for school this morning dressed in her uniform, looking adorable.

Liv and I took our first girls' only road trip this weekend. We went to Dallas to meet up with a couple of my girlfriends (Rachel and Shelby) and their daughters (Reagan and Sophie). Liv was super excited until I told her how far it was to Dallas (200+ miles). She was most excited about being the "big girl" of the group - Reagan is 2 and Sophie is 1.

We headed out around 8:45 a.m., and I was a little discouraged when this was what was waiting for us on I-35 Northbound:

Liv eagerly started watching her new "Olivia" dvd, but that last less than 20 minutes.

By the time we reached Round Rock (30 miles from go), I heard the first "Are we there yet?" And I heard some version of "are we there yet"/"how much longer" every five minutes for the next two hours. When we reached Hillsboro (2.5 hours from go), she finally fell asleep.

When we got to Dallas, we went straight to my friend Rachel's parents' house where Liv and I met a cutie named Taylor.

Shortly thereafter, Miss Sophie Belle and her mom Shelby showed up.

Since Reagan was taking a nap, Shelby/Sophie and Liv/I headed to the Galleria to check in to our hotel and have some lunch at the first Mexican restaurant we could find. Since Liv was taking her duties as leader of the pack very serious, she showed Sophie the way.

Sophie thought Liv was great and wanted to give her lots of hugs.

Reagan and Rachel met us for some fun. Liv and Reagan shared a caramel apple with sprinkles.
Liv showed Sophie how to use the elevator.

And she directed everyone where to go, randomly ordering everyone to STOP or FREEZE.
She found a stuffed pig she just had to have.

We made an effort to get pics of everyone.

Liv served as the photographer so we could get a pic of the moms. She did a pretty good job framing the photo, but was just a little shaky.

The girls had a game of chase, much to the guy in the chair's dismay. (Listen to me laugh when Liv falls down.)

Sophie got in on the chase, and Liv was quite proud when she is able to catch her.

Sophie took a break to take care of some "business."

And then it was time for bed. Liv read Sophie and Shelby a goodnight story, but Sophie was not too interested.

Finally, it was lights out.

Or maybe not. Sophie had a big fight with a stubborn molar, which made for a restless night for us all.

Sunday, Liv and I met Rachel, Reagan, Taylor, and Tom for breakfast, and said goodbye.

Liv and I headed home - ready for another round of "are we there yet." Liv insisted on stopping at Dairy Queen (the Texas stop sign) for ice cream. She took two bites and said she was too tired to eat it. Within minutes she was asleep.

And she slept all the way home, which was very nice for me. All in all, our first road trip was a success, but I don't think I will do it again any time soon.

Excellent! As I haven't even pulled my camera out of the bag yet to download whatever pictures I may have captured I'm thinking I'll just post a "click here for Sophie's trip to Dallas" link on her blog! I'm sure you got much better ones that I did!!

But you will notice I got very few of you because you were busy changing poopy diapers for a significant portion of the time.
