Scenes from a Birthday.

Liv had her first birthday party at her Granny and Papaw's house this weekend. She had a fabulous time and came home even more spoiled than usual.
First she opened presents --

a train,

and a car!

Then she went for a swim.

Then she ate some cake (I am not sure if she ever actually ate any of it or not.)

And after that disaster, she took a bath in the giant bathtub (a/k/a hot tub).

Whew, all that excitement just wore her out!

Sunday, she played cards with Granny. Liv made the rules, so of course she won.

She went for one last drive in her new car before we headed back to Austin.

What a weekend! I think she had a good first birthday.

In other news, she is getting really close to walking. She can walk behind her little train with ease. She also got her third tooth over the weekend. Interestingly, it is on the bottom. She has 3 on bottom and none on top!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Happy 1st Birthday Pooter!!!

One year ago today, our lives changed forever. You, my little Pooter, were born. In just one short year, you have taught me so many things. You taught me that I have a capacity for love that I never imagined. You have taught me that I can actually have patience when I must. I have learned that there is no greater pain than seeing your child in pain.

Olivia, you are the light of my life. Your smile warms my heart. Your hugs and kisses make it melt. Audrey and Stanley didn't know what to think of you at first, but they have each come to love you in their own way. (Audrey a little less than Stanley.) Your daddy has proven to be a better father than I could have ever imagined. I love to watch him to turn to mush when he is with you.

The first year of your life has passed so quickly. I try to savor every moment because you grow and change in the blink of an eye. You will continue to grow and learn, and I can’t wait to watch every minute of it.

Happy Birthday, Olivia. I love you.

Here is a look at the year in pictures:

The last picture of me before you were born. Just look what you did to my body!

Is it Love?

Liv had a date on Sunday morning, a playdate. She met Mr. Payton at Zilker Park and fell in love at first sight. Just look at this:

Things that are difficult

DIFFICULT: Changing a 12-month old's diaper when she refuses to lay down long enough to get one off and a new one on.

IMPOSSIBLE: Getting actual clothing back on after changing the diaper.

I came home the other day to find Liv sleeping like this. Notice the bow on the waistband of those shorts? Yeah, that is supposed to be in the front, and there are pockets on the back (in this case the front). At first, I thought Sean had just put them on backwards because he's a man, and they do things like that. He quickly informed me that it had nothing to do with his competence. Her shorts ended up backwards after he dressed her while she was twisting and squirming. That I understood.

Sending Love and Prayers

Cindy, Sean's stepmom (a/k/a Bunny), suffered a heart attack Wednesday morning. She is doing well and left the hospital today. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Weekend Recap

We had our neighborhood garage sale on Saturday. The weather didn't cooperate, and we did not do very well. It was way too much work for the little money we made. My mom and dad came down to help, so Liv had a nice visit and was spoiled even more than usual.

Her hair reached a new level of disaster this weekend. We were very amused by this look, and she loves for people to laugh at her (good thing, because we couldn't help ourselves).

Liv just loves to drive around in her car. Here she is drinking and driving.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

My lunch with the Coach of the Year

Mack Brown was the keynote speaker at a luncheon I attended today for the Boys and Girls Club. Afterwards, he was very gracious and signed my Rose Bowl dvd cover and posed for this photo. It was a good day.

Weekend Recap - Story of a Sourpuss

Brace yourself for a recap of the weekend in pictures.

Saturday evening we went to my friends Jim & Amy's for dinner. Here is Liv playing in their yard wearing pigtails for the first time.
Sunday, we went to Babies 'R Us and got Liv a new swimsuit. Her Granny and Papaw bought her a new pool, so she just had to have a new suit (plus a million other things, of course).

When Sean got done playing golf, we went to Trudy's for some Mexican food. As a joke, I let Liv taste the lemon from my tea. She LOVED it. Seriously, she ate 3 lemon wedges all the way down to the rind. How crazy is that? She never even made a face. This was all that was left when she was done:
