Notice of change of address...

We have moved--to a new state--it is called DENIAL. No matter how many Christmas trees I see, no matter how many houses are lit with festive lights, no matter how many Christmas carols I hear, no matter how freaking crazy people are driving, no matter how crowded the stores are, I refuse to believe that there are only 20 days until Christmas. I bought my first present this weekend. There are 18 people on my Christmas list, and I have marked off one. This is not good. We were at the dreaded Wal-Mart last night, and I said to dear husband, "Maybe we should look for Liv's Christmas present." The toy aisles were a nightmare, and he said, "Let's do it later." LATER. Soon there will be no later. And every day the crowds will just be worse than the day before.

We went on the great Christmas tree hunt yesterday. We searched the aisles of Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, Garden Ridge, and Sears for the perfect tree. The perfect FAKE tree. I have always been a hardcore real tree girl, but this year, I just couldn't bear the thought of wrestling with Christmas lights so we decided to buy one of the pre-lit faux trees. We put it up last night, and I must say, it is fabulous. I am so happy we decided to go fake. There are no gaping holes that I have to try to hide. It stands perfectly straight without any sort of maneuvering on my part. And it doesn't have to be watered. I am a terrible waterer and our tree is usually a fire hazard by week two.

So tonight, we will decorate it. Hubby gets to help by putting on the "special" ornaments (i.e. the ugly ones that go at the back of the tree). So here's the question: Do you decorate the back of your tree? I really don't see the point, but my mom always made me decorate our tree equally on all sides. Now that I am all grown up, I pretty much ignore the back of the tree (except for the "special" ornaments). How about you?
