I know, I know

I get an email from my mom that says "you know it has been a while since you updated Liv's blog. hint. hint...."

The woman sees Liv every week and still wants to complain that can't look at new pics of her everyday. (love you, mom)

I do realize that it has been more than a month since the last update. I was busy most of August preparing a case for trial that settled just three days before trial was to start. It was a busy month. We also closed on the house for my parents on July 12th and have been working on remodeling it since then. We (my mom) has painted it, and my dad, Sean, and I have been working on the floor. Here's what we have so far:
(My camera lens was a little dirty.)

And here's how tired we felt after working on the house all last weekend:

(BTW, those are sheets from when I was a child. My mom throws nothing away.)

But I know you are really here to hear about and see new pics of the little monkey. In the last month, Liv has been the cutest, funniest kid you could ever imagine. I know I just sound like every parent, but I truly love this age/phase. Everyday, she is learning new words, new things. She is like a little sponge soaking in everything around her. We can have conversations with her now -- like ask her a question and she answers it. (She starts every answer with a contemplative "hmmm. . .") We had a very funny exchange last night. She asked for a bottle (yeah, I am having trouble getting rid of that thing). But because she didn't really need a bottle, I spiked the milk with about 1/3 water, and this was the exchange that followed:

Liv (after taking a drink): "I want milk."

Me: "That is milk."

Liv: "That is water (pronounced "wadder")."

Me: "No, it is milk."

Liv: "It's milk AND water."

Mind you, she did not see me put the water in the bottle. I knew at that moment that I would never be able to fool this kid.

She can count to 10 in English and Spanish. She knows her alphabet and has a whole repertoire of songs she is happy to perform at any moment. I need to video her singing because it is quite entertaining.

In the meantime, here are some pics:

We went to Miss Sophie's birthday party at Chucky Cheese's. (Dear god, what a nightmare that place is.) Here's Liv playing Whack-a-Mole.

And I thought the look on this little boy's face was hilarious:

I bought her a tutu from Mrs. Duck. She prefers to wear it on her head like a wig.

She enjoys arts and crafts, especially finger painting . . .
. . . Audrey doesn't enjoy it quite as much.

And finally, little Miss Sassy Pants on her way to school for Splash Day.

Liv is the cutest kid, but I had to laugh out loud (while at my desk "working hard") when I saw the picture of Audrey and the paint!
